As we contemplate the debacle of the recent McCain campaign, and what is in store for us in the Obama Administration, I urge you to consider the very insightful words of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, a Republican who actually takes seriously the once core Republican principles of fiscal restraint, limited government, and federalism.
We Republicans are now in the process of rebuilding our Grand Old Party, which has been nearly dismantled by a RINO leadership that sees "success" in providing for Democrat-lite policies (federalizing education with No Child Left Behind; largest increase in the scope of a Great Society program, since the Great Society itself, in the Medicare Drug Prescription Plan; amnesty for illegal immigrants, who then return the favor by voting Democrat). While McCain returns to his "liason" role in the United States Senate (which really means being friends with liberal, Democrat Senators in such a manner as to defeat GOP filibusters on a lot of the Obama agenda), we Republicans need to start now in looking beyond him to our real future as a conservative nationalist political party.
I believe that Governor Mark Sanford is a potential future star for us. Certainly, he is hated by the establishment, RINO leadership of the Republican Party, which is a good sign. The courage that we see on display with men like him should be replicate by others, including on the County Republican Central Committee level, who take seriously our core principles.
