Sonoma County Voters Help Send a Message to Sacramento
Posted May 19th, 2009 by Michael EricksonIn his capacity as Chairman of the Sonoma County Republican Party, Michael Erickson comments on the “resounding victory” of the taxpayers in their defeat of Propositions 1A through 1E. He calls attention to the need for “draconian cuts” in spending, since it is the growing reliance of special interests on the public dole which hinders the reforms needed to restore California to her former status as a beacon of prosperity and opportunity; and he blames the voters’ mistrust on “the Democrat and Republican cabal” in Sacramento, that has been out of touch for far too long.
Voters Taking Dim View of Ballot Measures
Posted May 11th, 2009 by Michael EricksonIn the following Santa Rosa Press Democrat article on the likely defeat of five of the six measures on the California Special Election Ballot, Sonoma County Republican Party Chairman Michael Erickson comments: “We’re on the crest of a tax revolt in this state we haven’t seen since the late 1970s,” when Proposition 13 put a real lid on the property tax increases. Furthermore, rather than be concerned about the prospect of further cuts in state spending, he favors a fiscal strangling of the “bureaucratized, top heavy, socialized state,” that robs California of her prosperity.
"Day of Silence": The Latest in Marxist Intimidation of Our Children
Posted April 21st, 2009 by Michael EricksonWhile Marxist intimidation is not new, it has descended to a new low in recent months, as an increasingly hostile, anti-family bigotry emerges in the form of an institutionalized intimidation of children in some of our public schools. In particular, we call attention to a program known as a “Day of Silence,” in which school officials promote a variety of peer pressures to coerce students into publicly respecting “gay marriages.” Below we provide a real life, anecdotal example of such a policy, which has been brought to our attention.
Will Grumpy Voters Bail Out State?
Posted April 19th, 2009 by Michael EricksonThe Sonoma County Republican Party recommends a NO vote on Propositions 1A-1F in the May 2009 California Special Election. In the following Santa Rosa Press Democrat article on the Propositions, Michael Erickson remarks: “Taxes are driving out business and making it increasingly difficult for middle-class families to be able to live and thrive.” Furthermore, Michael Erickson makes the point that Proposition 1F in particular provides only a phony reform, because rather than in fact preventing state legislators from increasing their salaries in deficit years, it only forces a civilian compensation committee to recommend against it.
Hundreds in Santa Rosa Protest Taxes
Posted April 16th, 2009 by Michael EricksonAs Tax Day Tea Party Rallies occurred throughout the American Nation on April 15th, Republicans for the National Interest Chairman Michael Erickson attended the rally at such Santa Rosa Courthouse Square. In speaking with a reporter, he stated: “We’re showing our support for the commitment of all of these good voters against increased taxes, the federal stimulus legislation, and the bailout of Wall Street.”
Could Pastor Rick Warren's Treason on Traditional Marriage Be Connected to His Membership in the Council on Foreign Relations?
Posted April 11th, 2009 by Michael EricksonIn offering an explanation on why the Evangelical Christian, mega-church Pastor Rick Warren has disavowed his prior support for California Proposition 8, which reinstituted traditional marriage in the State, Michael Erickson focused on the sin involved, when he wrote as follows: “Perchance as the added publicity, which is likely to emerge from this disavowing of the struggle for traditional marriage, sells more copies of The Purpose Driven Life, Pastor Rick Warren may have the material comforts in home and money to think upon the matter of pleasing men at the expense of God.” Still, there is a secular dimension to this story.
Pastor Rick Warren Disavows Support for California Proposition 8
Posted April 9th, 2009 by Michael EricksonCalifornia mega-church Pastor and Author of The Purpose Driven Life, Rick Warren, an Evangelical Christian who became famous in the recent election by hosting a forum with Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain, and who went on to deliver the Inaugural Invocation for President Obama, has disavowed recently his prior endorsement of California Proposition 8. In turning against an initiative that reinstated into the law such traditional definition of marriage as between a man and a woman, Pastor Warren sadly is reinforcing comments I made recently about the collapse of Evangelical Christianity.
Chairman's Message for the April 2009 Sonoma County Republican Party Newsletter
Posted April 7th, 2009 by Michael EricksonIn his role as Chairman of the Sonoma County Republican Party, Michael Erickson reiterates within his Chairman’s Message portion of the April 2009 Newsletter of the Sonoma County Republican Party the recent, official recommendation of his County Republican Party of a NO vote for California Propositions 1A – 1F. The text of the Chairman’s Message, which includes his own reasons for recommending a NO vote, then is as follows.
Reflections on the "Tea Party" Rallies Scheduled for Tax Day
Posted April 7th, 2009 by Michael EricksonThere is a growing tax revolt within this Nation, focusing on the literally trillions, that the federal government has spent on bailing out Wall Street banks and other financial institutions; and as an expression of this populist discontent, hundreds of “Tea Party” rallies are being organized around this Nation for April 15th. In response to a query from a friend and a “Tea Party” activist, such Republicans for the National Interest Chairman Michael Erickson observes as follows.
Why Republicans Should Support the California Concealed Weapons Permits Bill
Posted March 25th, 2009 by Michael EricksonThere is a bill in the California State Assembly (appropriately named AB 357), which if passed will make it much easier for law abiding citizens to acquire their own concealed carry permits for firearms. In response to the query as to whether the Sonoma County Republican Party should champion this bill, Michael Erickson then makes the following observation in regards to the substance of the bill and its likely political impact for those Republican groups that champion it.
